OBJECTHOOD IS A SHORT MOVIE AS WELL AS A CONTINUATION OF MY  PREVIOUS RESEARCH (mediated reality).

WITH THIS FILM I ATTEMPT TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS ABOUT OUR SOCIETY THAT MAINLY FUNCTIONS THROUGH ABSOLUTE EMBRACEMENT. MY STARTING POINT FOR DEVELOPING THE CONCEPT WAS A SENTENCE FROM THE BOOK -  "BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL" BY SIGMUND FREUD. FREUD STATES THAT "he who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster, and if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee".

BASED ON MY PREVIOUS RESEARCH ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILM, I REALIZED THAT THE SPECTATORS POSITION IN FILM IS PURELY MANIPULATED. FILMS ARE GENERALLY COMPOSED TO REPRESENT REALITY   ALTHOUGH IN MOST FILMS THE OBSERVER IS A THIRD PERSON VIEWING THE SITUATION. IN OBJECTHOOD I INTENDED TO POSITION THE VIEWER INTO THE FIRST PERSON PERSPECTIVE, SUCH AS THE ROLE OF AN ACTOR.

I BELIEVE THAT NOWADAYS WE NO LONGER ONLY OBSERVE WHEREAS THE NEW MEDIA GAVE US THE CONTROL OVER ITS IMAGE AND THEREFORE TURNED US INTO ITS THE USERS.

SIMILARLY AS FREUD SPEAKS ABOUT FIGHTING WITH MONSTERS, IN MY FILM I CONTEXTUALIZED THESE MONSTERS AS BEING TECHNOLOGY AND NATURE.

THE FILM IS SHOWN ON TWO SCREENS, EACH PLAYING ITS OWN STORY ALLOWING THE USER TO GUIDE HIS OWN VISION, HOWEVER NOT PERMITTING THE USER TO AVOID THE CONSEQUENCES.

THE USER IS VICTIMIZED AND TRANSFORMED INTO AN OBJECT.
